Galt then has Rambo bathe for his court date by spraying him with a high-pressure fire hose. Camp in and loses control, escaping on instinct using his military training. He fights his way out of the station beating up most of the officers, breaking one's nose and throwing another out of a window.
Rambo retrieves his knife and runs into the streets, throwing a civilian off a motorcycle and stealing it, and is pursued by Teasle off-road into the nearby mountains. The deputies are eventually forced to search for Rambo on foot, and he climbs down onto a steep cliff to elude capture.
Teasle, who did not see Galt's attempt to kill Rambo, vows to avenge his friend's death. Rambo quickly disables the small, disorganized team using guerrilla tactics and booby traps, severely wounding — but not killing — the deputies. I could've killed you. In town you're the law, out here, it's me.
Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe. Let it go", he warns, before disappearing into the woods. He is surprised to find any of the deputies still alive, and warns that it would be safer to let Rambo go and find him after the situation has calmed down. Teasle refuses to give in, and Trautman warns that if he sends in the National Guard, to also bring a good supply of body bags.
The inexperienced guardsmen fire a disposable M72 LAW rocket launcher at him, collapsing the mine and trapping him inside. They assume Rambo is dead. However, unbeknownst to his pursuers, Rambo has escaped into the tunnels of the mine. Rambo finds some old fuel and makes an improvised torch from fabric. Rambo spots a National Guard caravan and hijacks a passing truck. He blocks the highway to anyone in pursuit by igniting the spilled fuel with a Zippo lighter.
Rambo also shoots the transformers on the town's power lines, knocking out the power to the main street. However, the following scenes were added in order to make up for anything that was cut:. A scene in the beginning where Rambo tries to order takeout at a diner, but then gets hassled, making Rambo leave. A scene after the posse is injured.
A scene showing the Paramedics putting the posse in ambulances, and Galt's body into a helicopter, just as Kern arrives. A longer version of the conversation between Trautman and Teasle about Rambo taking out his posse. A longer version of the conversation about the capture of Rambo. A scene where Teasle and Trautman land at the spot where Rambo is "killed". A scene where Teasle returns to his office and is congratulated by the townspeople for "killing" Rambo. Written in muscular prose, No Country for Old Men is a powerful tale of the West that moves at a blistering pace. When Carl Lee Hailey guns down the hoodlums who have raped his year-old daughter, the people of Clanton see it as a crime of blood and call for his acquittal. But when extremists outside Clanton hear that a black man has killed two white men, they invade the town, determined to destroy anything and anyone that opposes their sense of justice.
Jake Brigance has been hired to defend Hailey. It's the kind of case that can make or break a young lawyer. Killing Floor is the first book in the internationally popular Jack Reacher series. It presents Reacher for the first time, as the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode: a righter of wrongs, the perfect action hero. Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks 14 miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia.
An arbitrary decision he's about to regret. Danny is only five years old, but in the words of old Mr Hallorann he is a 'shiner', aglow with psychic voltage. When his father becomes caretaker of the Overlook Hotel, Danny's visions grow out of control. As winter closes in and blizzards cut them off, the hotel seems to develop a life of its own.
It is meant to be empty. So who is the lady in Room , and who are the masked guests going up and down in the elevator?
And why do the hedges shaped like animals seem so alive? First came the man: a young wanderer in a fatigue coat and long hair. Then came the legend as the character, John Rambo, took his place in the American imagination. This remarkable and critically acclaimed novel pits a young Vietnam veteran against a small-town cop who doesn't know what he will unleash after their first ill-fated encounter - a life-and-death struggle through the woods, hills, and caves of rural Kentucky.
In fact, it is my all time favourite movie. I had never read the book and after hearing the audio version I will be getting a hard copy. PTSD is real. How do we fix our broken warriors? Better than the movie. Way higher body count. Way more character development. Written so well its like you are there. Well read by narrator. So I have seen the movie First Blood dozens of times. I listened to the audio book because a friend and I watched First Blood yesterday.
On a long trip today I started listening to the book. Knowing that it was very different than the movie now I wish they would make another movie of the book and keep it true to the story. What a dark and sad story. Being a Veteran myself I can identify with both Rambo and Teasel. The story is troubling but is still very current. I loved it. I just started listening to this book this morning.
The author included a forward that gives away the end. I am, however, enjoying the book. I think I would have opted to put that at the end. Just a warning to future purchasers. Sad to think about the way society treated veterans during that era. Really makes you think.
Very well written and performed. I think I would have to say in my top Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? I wouldn't go so far as to say the edge of my seat good, but it was enjoyable. This Rambo was one bad mother shut your mouth type of guy that was just pushed too far.
And he showed the sheriff that he was the wrong drifter to go and mess with. What does Eric G. Like what i say every time, that when you have a good narrator it brings the characters to life and Mr. Dove did a good job on his part. If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be? The movie tag line that was used in works just fine in my opinion "This time he's fighting for his life. Any additional comments? It's pretty much the same as the movie, except that he kills a butt load of guys in this book than what he did in the first Rambo movie.
I still enjoyed listening to the book and I'm a fan of the movie too. Pretty Good Book, I finished it quickly. I also bought a second book not the same series by this author immediately after finishing this one. I heard this novel does a good job of telling the story from two different perspectives and I enjoy stories that show events from more than one perspective.
I was disappointed that it didn't do a good job of showing the events from both perspectives in my opinion at least but I enjoyed this book because of the excitement. I usually only read and listen to nonfiction but this is such an action packed story I enjoyed it. On the positive side the narrator was incredible. The book is very similar to the early 80's Rambo movie at the beginning but as the story progresses the movie took a different course so you won't know what comes next if you've already seen the movie.
Better than the movie, WAY better! The narrator is spot on too. Great Book. Check it out. The characters and motivations are much more complex than the movie. Rambo and Teasle represent a generational gap, and how the attitudes at the end of the Vietnam War were very different than previous wars. I would have loved to see this translated faithfully to film. A must read.
